Welcome to Practice and Curiosity

Hello, I am so glad you are here!

I’m Lisa, a painter living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Practice and Curiosity is my communal project and offering, a place to reflect, be curious, gather, and share. Each week, I write about the joys and challenges of creative practice, sharing studio insights and resources. Once a month, I gather fun links, quotes, and questions, and send them your way. I also bring in other voices and experiences through artist interviews and highlights.

When you subscribe you will receive a newsletter in your email inbox every Monday morning. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Reflections on creative process and practice.

  • Studio updates

  • Links to articles, resources, inspiration and tools.

  • Artist interviews that offer a range of experience and perspectives

  • Announcements and offerings

Let’s Make a Community

As creatives, we often focus on our medium, technique, and the products of our efforts. A lot of resources and conversations are devoted to the business side of things and how to make a living as an artist. I want to focus on what fills the space between, the less obvious, more ephemeral, but ultimately practical. Because there is no art without showing up, making space, pushing through doubt, putting pen to paper, gathering material, and generally doing the work of honing our attention toward our intentions, interests, and desires.
